Sketch I made of a portrait of myself in 10 minutes. Will update and alter to make a final project.

Updated to include multiple versions as I go along and eventually create my final portrait.

Please let me know your opinions!
Above: original sketch created in 10 minutes.
Freckles added, lip lines taken away, cleaned up left side of neck, took away earrings and eyes.

Put eyes back on, plan to redo them. Added a light grey background.

Went back to a white background, added highlights/lowlights in the hair, redid eyes. Think I like it better without eyes though.

Definitely like it better without eyes. Tried the dark background and I think I like it. My final project will be either this or something similar.

Reflection

My tutorial I did for this unit was in Photoshop, and I ended up creating my project in illustrator - but I did take some ideas away from my tutorial. My focus was on the face of the person, like the tutorial, but I achieved it in a different way. I only had my face on the artboard, while the tutorial was an emphasized portrait. I have also done tutorials in the past, such as the zombie tutorial in DID 2, which taught me how to use the blob brush to trace certain parts of the portrait and create a complete feeling.

I would tell any future DID 3 student completing tutorials to make sure to go through and collect all the pictures needed and know which step they are for before beginning the actual tutorial itself. Many times the website to get the pictures will be blocked, or the photo isn’t available anymore, which gets very frustrating when that happens halfway through the tutorial.
