For this assignment we had to design a paper-toy for a store, I decided I would make something inspired by Monster High. this because the characters have a nice flair and it fits well with my style and interests. the target audience is 10 to 15 year old girls.
I first started looking for references, I made a mood board on Pinterest and looked at the type of characters they have made before, I wanted to make something unique.
I started by sketching a normal looking character and continued to make it more blocky with each sketch
i made the base in illustrator and painted everything in procreate, the base worked out very well from the start which surprised me because I've never done this before.
for the logo i made a few sketches and i combined a few, i chose a devils tail based on a heart to make a combo of the cute aspect and the monster aspect
I also made a short animation and a bow for on top of the characters head, I did this so I could show the logo on top of the character as well
