National Donut Day Debate 2020

With moments of levity needed now more than ever, Dunkin’ celebrated 2020’s National Donut Day with a cheerful spoof of the presidential election. “The Donut Party” celebrated all things donuts and united people across the country with the sweet treat they deserve.

“The Donut Debates,” a 15-second national television commercial, gave America a chance to meet the donut candidates. In the light-hearted spot, Glazed, Jelly, Boston Kreme, and other donut flavors debate campaign-style to get your National Donut Day Vote.

Are you amazed with Glazed? Do you dream of Boston Kreme? Or, is your candidate Old Fashioned? Dunkin’ gave fans the chance to create their own Donut Party slogans, by answering the question “What does The Donut Party stand for to you?” for the chance to win free donuts for a year.

As a result of the campaign, Dunkin’ owned 60% of branded National Donut Day mentions on Social, saw a 10% rise in foot traffic, and shifted 11 million donuts on the day!

Taking inspiration from each donut flavor, we transformed these sugary treats into playful CGI characters, made of equal parts taste-appeal and larger-than-life personality.
