A project created for the anniversary of 9/11
A few weeks before the anniversary of 9/11 I decided to do something in tribute for that day. I came across some old barn wood and started to make a 3'x5' American flag. Over the next few weeks this project really took a mind of it’s own. The 2nd, 10th and 11th star was painted upside down as representation of PA, VA and NY. The white stripes of the flag are actually a collage of thousands of headline from newspapers across the world from 9/12/01-9/20/01. What started off as a great home decor idea transformed into a real Jasper Johns inspired piece of art
