Quite a lot of iterations were done before I got the shape I wanted. At first I was going for a less simple look, exploring hourglass shapes and complex appartment-like planters. This page of sketches shows the most important steps as well as a presentation sketch.
The prototyping process had to be realised via two methods: thermo-/vacuum forming and light metalwork. The mold for the plastic was made from a thermoset foam, carefully modelled with fine tools. At the time of taking these pictures, the foam had already taken some damage. The metal connections were realised through simple spot-welding.
