I spent a couple days sketching on a theme for Rivian that would capture the clean product design appearance of the RT1 and RS1. I was drawn to a more friendly design route considering how Rivian approached the design for the Amazon delivery trucks. After having a solid direction. I hopped into Gravity Sketch, skipping the initial 3D sketch with the ink tool by instead using the more controlled stroke tool to frame out my truck. The curves were then used to snap subdivision surfaces to. After only several minor revisions, made easy by the Sub D surfaces, I brought the model into Maya to be rendered. The entire model is Gravity Sketch subdivision surfaces minus the wheels which were made in Alias.
