Winds of Carnation

In this assignment I was instructed to choose a flower and depict its symbolism. The carnation caught my attention for its spiky form yet beautiful to look at. I researched the carnation and found that it symbolizes different aspects all through the world; whether marriages in China, the National flower of Spain or mentioned in Greek mythology representing reincarnation; etc. I made a wind chime and each white mount has an individual aspect of the flower painted in watercolors.
