NYO (North Yorkshire Original) is a carp fishing clothing brand, but quite what you might think. Their style is more akin to the skating scene than traditional fishing gear, it's modern clean and fashin driven. Due to this they needed a logo that could represent their connection to carp fishing, but steer clear of the usual tropes and set them apart from the competition.
From the client's great information and my research, it became aparent how important photography and capturing the beauty of not only the fish, but the experience itself is. I wanted to nod to this and tie it in with the use of mirror carp scales comprising the main part of the logo. The minimal sans-serif font and tracking were also an integral part of the wordmark sdesign, giving it that modern feeling.
The logo needed to work as an icon small enough to be printed on labels and used as a brand indicator on hats, t-shirts and hoodies. This meant it was important to use a simple enough design and single colour-sheme to allow easy printing and even possible use on zips and metal components.
