WABI SABI
Wabi Sabi describes one of the oldest life philosophies and aesthetic concepts practiced in Japan. Influenced by Zen Buddhism, the concept is often defined as "the description of the beauty found in imperfect, temporary and incomplete things". In a typographic exploration and experimental book design, my undergraduate project provides insight into the various levels of Wabi Sabi's teachings – how it influences our lives and how artists utilize imperfection in their work. Typographic elements, analog photo studies and unique color and material experiments visualize my own exploration and interpretation of the Wabi Sabi way of thinking and feeling.
