ART & TECHNOLOGY PROJECTS

ArT is an artistic project based education in Aalborg University, Denmark. It is an interdisciplinary study where one works creatively, constructs projects, uses different types of technology, applies theory and reflects upon your results in an academic framework. The study challenges to express artistic creativity, in project based group work. Developing skills to create experimental and artistic designs is the core of the program. Working with modern materials, light, sound and physical design and combining these with technology and new media.

BIRDSINTERACTION
AN INTERMEDIA DANCE PERFORMANCE

An intermedia dance performance in collaboration with Dansefyrtårnet Nord which combines modern dance and interactive technologies. Group project supervised by Elizabeth Jochum. The plot of the performance is based on the poem Bluebird by Charles Bukowski and invites the viewer to follow the main character through his personal journey. Our task was to provide dancers with the performance plot, lighting, soundscape, visual material, stage setup, as well as costumes and interactive technologies.
13 students from Art & Technology worked on aforementioned components of the performance. 16 dancers and 3 choreographers worked on the dance performance.  Project was combined from 4 different narratives which resulted in a plot dealing with existentialism. The performance was showed 3 times in December 2015 at Teater Nordkraft.

THE BEAST OF MY OWN
SOLO INTERACTIVE INSTALLATION

A responsive video installation, which deals with postmemory of war crime in Lithuanian context.
Four projectors show war crime places in Rainiai village (Lithuania). Video footage was made in Spring of 2016. Kinect camera on the floor tracks visitor's body and projects it on the main screen. This video feedback looks alike to someone's shadow. Visitor of the installation has a possibility of virtual immersive experience which invites to explore mass murder sites. Kinetic typography used on the screen illustrates words that were said by war criminals. 9 posters explaining basic facts relating to this project used during the exhibition JUST LIKE ART, 2016 (Aalborg, DK)
Project was made individually by Dovile Mikutiene and supervised by Betty Li Meldgaard.

MONO QUARTET
GESTURE BASED DIGITAL INSTRUMENTS

A sound installation which includes four gesture-based digital instruments. The instruments produce sounds based on the movements of the performer. Each instrument sends sensory measurements wireless via bluetooth to a server arduino. The server sends MIDI through the serial port to a sound synthesizing computer.
The instruments produce noise music and sounds based on the movements of the performer. By playing together participants are able to produce synergy and non-verbal communication takes place too.
Instruments were exhibited in May, 2015 at Aalborg University (Aalborg, DK).
Group project made by Dovile Mikutiene, Nikolaj Andersson, Alf Andersen and Frederik Gøeg Bygholm, supervised by Palle Dahlstedt.

DE/STRUCT
INTERACTIVE VIDEO AND WATER INSTALLATION

An interactive video and water installation about ideas of construction and destruction. It consisted of projector, which projected short video on the canvas above visitors' heads, aquarium and the box where the aquarium was placed. Inside the box, the projector was placed.
The video showed concepts of destruction and construction. It was combined with visual abstract material made with C++ code, which also reflected upon the idea of con/destruction. The visitor had a possibility to play with water thus distorting the image above his head.  Here you can see a distorted image.
This installation was exhibited in December 2014 at Aalborg University Art & Technology exhibition.
A group project made by Dovile Mikutiene, Paulina Melinauskaite, Nele Kadastik and Jean-François Robin, supervised by Lance Putnam.
