I was inspired to make my project into a singing device after I watched a YouTube clip from the Jimmy Fallon show. I wanted to take an important topic and present it to individuals in a different format where it can be entertaining to hear yet important. President Obama and Jimmy Fallon did a skit in which they called, “ slow jam news” where an important topic was taken and broken down into a slow jam rhythm. I decided to quote them and use what they said in their slow jam song into my choir song. I made three different patches so I was able to attach three different voices making it easier to attach buttons to it. The awesome aspect of this is that every individual is labeled so the order does not quite matter because whether only one person is heard at a time or mix in voices, it all makes an interesting rhythm of its own. I also included the keyboard press option in which triggered by the return button will output what was typed in three synchronized different voices.
Below is the script that was used for this segment of the Jimmy Fallon Show and what has been used in this project.
Jimmy: Hit me presidential style
Obama: On July first of this year the interest rate on Stanford student loans the same loans that many of you use to help pay for college are set to double that means some hard working students will be paying about thousand extra just to get their education. So I have called on Congress to prevent this from happening what we said is simple now is not the time to make school more expensive for our young people.
Jimmy: Oooh yeaah you should listen to the president or as I like to call him the Prezzie of the United Steezie Things were heating up inside Congress chambers behind all those closed doors so the president made a few discreet calls across isles he said hey lets get together on this one without an affordable Stanford loan where can the student turn the Pell Grant is a beautiful thang but with college getting more expensive is it enough by itself to satisfy all your collegiate needs apell no
Terrie: If Congress does not act it is the students who play the right and left should join on this like Kim and Kanye.
Obama: Now there is some in Congress who disagree they say keeping the interest rate low is not the way to help our students…they say we should be doing everything we can to pay down the national debt…well so long as it does not include taxing billionaires…but their position is that students just have to make this rate increase work…frankly I do not buy it.
Jimmy: Mmmmm the Barackness monster aint buying it…we all know our legislative bodies in the house tossing and turning late into the night but still Republicans disagree and can even filibuster…but if they do…the President said they are going to feel it buster
Terrie: The GOB is steady saying NO NO NO, they should find something new to do like Tim TIVO
Obama: The reason its so important to keep down cost so we keep college affordable
Jimmy: And the President knows his stuff yall, that is why they call him the Potus.
Obama: Lets keep the rates down on college loans.
Terrie: Lets get it together, and make our lives better, cuz a college degree is more than a few letters, if college goes rise we will have financial blues.
Jimmy: And that is how we slow jam the news
