Once Upon, Upon a Roll

Once Upon, Upon a Roll
Paper on board

This piece represents the time, that has passed but is still present within each breath. In each of these rolls of paper are carefully selected texts (children stories from my youth), that have been rolled up carefully into selected geographies of my creation. As storytellers do, I have created my own realm for these texts to exist in. The texts pertain to memories of my childhood and the stories, I lived in. A time  that has passed but is forever, real and present  within in who I am today. In rolling of the text , this hinders the stories unreadable. As a story is told or read, it is present but always fleeting. However, this does not mean that they are lost but  only changed. As stories have developed as the storyteller tells and retells. So has my own story. This is the a selfportrait of the past, present and future.
