The intervention area is Bencanta, a suburb of Coimbra. The area was really big so we divide the proposals and each one took care of a diferent area.
Taking advantage of an irrigation canal that was an hinge between the residential area and the farmland area, i decided to create a linear park. With a design that rhythmically regimented and tried to establish relations between the two fronts, the park were divided into three main programs: a fishing area, a restaurant and a training center (which i just drew the access). A wooden walkway is leading the path, sometimes near agricultural fields, sometimes near the green area of the park. Also a bike road followed the route. The irrigation canal was controlled, "opened up" in program areas. Some small blocks along the route could serve to workshops, information sites, shops and bike hire, what residents seemed to be more appropriate.
The goal is to integrate and make more involved Bencanta's residents: Bob can fish with his son and after sell it to the restaurant, that goes along with the potatoes and salad that Lourdes harvested on his land. The restaurant also owns a farm field behind so the food is harvest, then processed and put on sale to consumers: biological products always fresh.
