The aim of the presented project was to develop a social housing condominium in a site located at the Ipiranga Avenue, one of the main avenues of the city of Porto Alegre, connecting it to La Plata, a residential street on the other side of the block.
As a social housing complex, there is also the need to provide a form of financial support opportunity and children care to the community.
The volume was developed through modules with various possibilities of additions and subtractions through time, allowing adaption to the users needs in time.
As a form of rationalizing the structure and creating a pattern that could change, residential blocks are composed of two A units combination of apartment layouts with a B unit in between.
B units are composed of vertical circulation and empty spaces that can become extensions of A units. There are 3 A types and each of them have 2 apartments.
The 3 possible combinations of 2 apartments generate random facade for each block that can also change along time whenever there is a new expansion.
The spatial organization was created in such a way that there could be interaction within the community and still allow a sense of belonging. The urban path that crosses the site unites it with the city, according to the urban scale and fluxes.
The main meeting areas were drawn in a bigger scale, with levels indication and material selection, as shown in the images below.
