The CURA Scanner utilizes E-Ink display technology (the same found in the Amazon Kindle products) to maximize battery life. Without the need for a backlight, energy is only used to fix pixels when data is first displayed, but is not required to keep the monochromatic text displayed on the screen.
In combination with a Lithium Polymer Battery, the scanner can survive on a single charge for upwards of an entire month.
