Mary, Queen of Heaven
Wooden sculpture, based on Lithuanian folk art from the 19th century. She is standing on a snake (symbol for all that’s evil), with her arms down and rays of light emanating from her hands (a symbol of grace). I was inspired by sculptures from the National Museum of Lithuania in Vilnius, which, in turn, were inspired by a vision of a nun in 1830 from the Society of St.Vincent de Paul.
