Common Core Tech Update is designed for educators who want to stay on top of emerging technologies that will help districts successfully implement Common Core. From the latest curriculum apps, to updates regarding online assessment requirements, to technologies that promote 21st century instructional strategies, this monthly newsletter highlights best practices in technology-enabled teaching and learning for the Common Core.
Goal
Design a visual identity and accompanying weekly newsletter, to support editorial efforts related Common Core.
Brief
Develop a concept for the newsletter that encompassed the many facets of traditional education, while giving it a modern edge.
To do this, I combined vectors synonomous with reading, writing, arithmetic, and assesment, with a type face giving it a modern touch.
The client wanted more emphasis to be placed on Common Core. Therefore, I gave it a stronger weight, with a not-too-dominant red. To help solidify the indentity, "Tech Update" is less prominent, but distinguished by incorporating an arrow/ascender on the "U", to place emphasis on the contemporaneous subject and title--which helped marry the two peices.
