Console Control User Study

Quick and "Dirty" Research Project
We were looking to improve consumer use when adjusting speed and incline on digital cardio equipment consoles. With a limited budget, we wanted to keep costs low. We decided to go with paper prototypes taped to existing consoles and we needed to get a better impression of where our testers were pressing – but, how? Ink? Water? Sticky Notes/Dots?

Finally, we had it. Fingerpaints! It's fun, easy to clean up and easy to apply.

We then created a script and ranking system for our researchers and ran our test subjects through three layout options.
Then we ran our test subjects through the experiment.
