VIENNA CRAFT KNITTER CREW
The project was to create the identity for a Vienna based Community of Women that meet to Craft together. The inspiration came from women that were fundamental in the development of the Wiener Werkstätte. Emilie Louise Flöge with her couture shop "Schwestern Flöge" and Edith von Mautner-Markopf pictured in the center, a Graphic Artist and wife of Koloman Moser.
The use of decorative typefaces during the Secession Period were the starting point of my research. I used my own handwriting in the early stages of the logo then constructed it with a grid for the final result. I wanted the logo to have a strong presence and the use of ligatures to reflect the sense of nostalgia. Through social media channels like Instagram, we invite all women with all levels of expertise to join the crew and craft together. Follow us @viennacraftknittercrew
