Performance Direct Social Media Marketing Strategy & Social Networking
One of my first roles at Performance Direct was to create a social media presence for the main insurance brand and also the Non Standard Awards which is an award scheme to grant money to people with strange motoring idea's.  The overall concept of the use of social media was to help to communicate information about insurance and the Performance Direct brand to a very time-poor audience.  Insurance is often a grudge purchase and therefore social media has been used to try to make the brand more accessible, more fun, more lively and generally sexier.

Social Media Logo:
The Performance Direct logo was combined with a car image from each of the major niche insurance groups covered by the brand.  This theme followed on from the advert I filmed for the Top Gear Live 2009 shows which very much got across the message that Performance Direct was a multi niche insurer and not just for people with performance cars. 

Facebook:
Facebook pages were set up for the Performance Direct brand and the Non Standard Awards.  A page with a greyed image first appears to encourage users to click on "like" to reveal the content beneath.  The Non Standard Awards has a second customised page with tabbed pages to show the award winners from 2010. 

Youtube:
A Youtube channel was set up for PD Motoring News - the news arm of the Performance Direct brand.  This features various show overview / montage sequences that I filmed at motoring events throughout the year as well as some reports on exclusive super cars modified by Oakley Design such as the Porsche Panamera and the Ferarri 458 Italia. 

Twitter:
Twitter is largely under-used with pages merely tweeting Facebook, Youtube and will soon also be tweeting blog posts.
