Joust Poster - Graphics 5 Redesign

Prepare to Joust, Buzzard Bait!
For my Graphics 5 assignment we're redoing past projects.  I had a poster that I did for the Joust arcade game, but it never really sat well with me.  I enjoyed the layout, but there was so much that could have been improved, print quality aside.

Here is the original in all of its clunky, badly registered glory.
My original intent was to make it an "in universe" poster, but the modern style clashed with the concept, so I took my class's input and redid it to be the sort of ad you might see in an arcade (or barcade).

I sourced my colors from the sprites found in "Williams Arcade's Greatest Hits" for SNES.  The sprites and colors were close enough to the original, but were also more vivid than the original cabinet.
My orange and blue sources are circled on the image below.  I also used the "flapping" sprite with a few tweaks to create the images on the edge.
I designed the piece using grids, with the flying ostrich sprite serving as my point of reference.  After trying various typefaces Futura PT Condensed fit best; the lighter font is in book, with the heavier words in Bold.

The Joust logo itself is recolored to fit the minimalist color scheme of the piece.  The outer colors are the main ostrich and rider color, while the lettering is the background color set to 13% saturation to increase readability.
The Williams company logo is most recognizable with black lettering and a red logo, but I was able to find examples of it in all black, so I chose to stick with that rather than risk an unnatural recoloring of the icon.
