Time based studies through textiles.

For this project we looked time based studies so ways people presenting their work just as an image maybe as a fashion show or in a museum. So as I look at a lot of textiles and artist I want to capture the process of nature to show time and movement. As I wanted to look at nature My first idea was the stages of a flower growing and blooming. In the page below I also looked at Free hand embroidery on the machine as its easier to move and make the piece unique.
I chose to look at daffodils as at the time they were blooming and I was able to capture the different phases of them and then I picked my favourite images that I felt showed it really well.
This was the final outcome. I was able to make this series of sprouting daffodils by printing out the photos onto paper and pining it to the fabric then outlining all the detail on the image with the sewing machine. However I also added scraps of fabric that helped suggest what flowers they are and also makes them stand out and see the transition of the flowers more easily and effectively. With using the free hand embroidery foot it made it easier to move and create the lines but also adds texture to the surface.
