Show Your Rare Festival 2020
My entry for Show Your Rare Festival (SYRF) illustration competition 2020. The story behind this illustration was the differences that exist in every human are not a flaw that needs to be covered, but rather something that we need to love and be proud of. At first I always felt that I was never enough. I always compared myself to you, him, her, and them. I felt like I was in an old-unused-bulb. Until my friend pointed out that our flaws, differences, and weaknesses are not things that we must regret or hide. Reminds me of a light that always show its color. Without light, we are unable to see the diversities in this world. The diversity of colors, shapes, talents, and many more beautiful things that we can see. Without light, the world would be dark with no color in it.
Light allows us to see the various colors on earth. Like humans, each human being has its own color that makes us different and unique. We don't have to be afraid to let out the light within us so that our color will shine from within. I realized that the light in humans is not always a matter of physical appearances but what is inside us. Don't be afraid of differences, because that is what makes you who you are.
This picture was a true illustration of how I see myself in my shell of bulb starting to glow and shine. I realized we are all different, we all have our own colors. Don't let your bulb goes dreary and dusty, preventing you to shine brighter. Take a look around, we are all different, we are all colored.
