Hi! My name is Adeline and I am a senior studying Communications and Economics. When I introduce myself to a stranger, I include the basic details: I’m from Mystic, Connecticut—that’s always been my home base. However, I have also lived in Switzerland, Australia and Ireland. Having dual citizenship with the Netherlands means I have had a very international upbringing. The whole side of my father’s family still lives there so growing up, I visited them frequently. Because of my travels, I have always been interested in learning about new cultures—whenever we went somewhere new, my family would stay in apartments in the less touristy part of town and we would visit museums, fully immersing ourselves in the daily customs of whatever country we were visiting.

Within this Moodboard I included photos from my time abroad in Ireland. This was the first time I had lived alone in an international country and experiencing a new country independently was invigorating. The landscapes and vistas of Ireland are beyond breathtaking and I found myself inspired. I know it’s a cliché, but my experiences abroad allowed me to grow. It was traumatizing to have 24 hours to leave the country due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, but the 9 weeks I spent there were some of the best weeks of my life.

When it comes to graphic design, I’m excited to expand my knowledge on ways to visually communicate ideas and messages as visuals can relay so many different emotions and experiences. As a communications major, I've often looked at other's communication methods from a visual standpoint. I’m very excited for this semester to actually learn how to use Adobe, Indesign, and Illustrator, and I can’t wait for graphic design!
