IMRAM_2012
Irish Language Literature Festival, Dublin, IRELAND

My design for billboard was chosen to advertise this event. I also created brochure, poster and book with the poem 'Chailleas mo Dhanta ag an b Picnic Leictreach' ['Electric Picnic'] by Dairena ní Chinnéide, on which was all design based on.

Poet writes about sound compounds from light, pulsing madness, endless possibilities, music, spark, freedom…
The artwork incorporate the last two lines from the poem which says : Fuaireas mo dhanta, is bhi se leictreach…. which means 'I lost my poems, and it was electric…

Filleadh ar an gCathair // Citybound // by Ailbhe Ni Ghearbhuigh

Citybound

Returning tonight
I can taste the city’s sweat
around me.
I like its sweetness.
The Present Tense bounces
recklessly off walls
in the heat of the afternoon.
I admit toxic fumes
intoxicate me.
Although you don’t see
the setting sun here
in the vast expanse of sky,
Night plunges
between tall buildings
without warning.
but neon lights light up
the foreign corners of my heart.
Faoiseamh a gheobhadsa*
on a moonlit ledge
my ear tuned to traffic’s song.

*‘Faoiseamh a gheobhadsa’ is the title of a poem by the late Máirtín Ó Direáin in which he describes the respite he feels upon returning to his island home of Inis Mór.
