‘Once, In Childhood’ is a visual book about memory.
It is inspired by the ordinary places and moments I experienced as a child, which, however, stuck with me.
Moments where nothing really happens, somehow followed me all my life.
They were full of silence and reflection. Maybe that’s what made them so memorable.

I wanted to recreate their feeling in this accordion book.
The cover is tibetan handcrafted paper (maybe next time I’ll make my own), the pages are printed in risography - green and gold. I started this project while in Riga on a comics residency, organised by Kus! comics.
The title is inspired by "Nostos" - a poem by Louise Gluck that I felt resonated with my idea for the book.

Thank you!
