This project is a bit harder to describe because it goes way beyond this illustration (scroll down for final image) and it's part of something much bigger which I didn't mention before.
So What or Who the hell is Lemonaut?
Lemonaut is (will be) an upcoming art & clothing brand. A brand with it's own theme and symbols. A brand of colors and enthusiasm. Lemonaut is also a made-up character, a proud yellow space mascot and a symbol of this brand. This character is also incorporated in the brands logo (click to see). The name obviously consists of two words: lemon and astronaut which both in this case have a much deeper and hidden meaning.
I'm slowly developing a visual direction and identity for this brand through my personal taste and illustration style. And this illustration is kind of a teasing, maybe a little style research or a development of the brands own visual world.
For the first time I decided to record the whole drawing process from early stages to the finished piece.
It's also documented with some pretty ugly sketches and ideas from my almost torn sketchbook . :)
The whole digital process took roughly about 15 hours and it's been crammed into 9 minutes (uncut).
Early line work was done on paper using mechanical pencil 0.5 and black Molotow acrylic markers.
Digital painting was done entirely in Photoshop using Wacom tablet - Intuos 3.

Original size - din A1 - 841 x 594 mm
In the future this illustration might be reworked into a t-shirt design or available as a limited and signed poster edition on Lemonaut store.
I hope you like this project. Don't hesitate to share your impressions. Any comments are more than welcome.
Thanks!
