The Colour out of Space

"The Colour out of Space" movie intro
This video is a motion graphics intro for an imaginary movie version of H. P. Lovecraft's "The Colour out of Space." This short story describes an apparent infestation by a life form from space so alien, it can barely be properly perceived by human senses.

The coruscating color effect was generated by creating three color solids -- red, green and blue -- and applying an alpha mask with a grayscale noise texture to each of them. Each color channel then had its mask animated independently, and all three channels were multiplied together to create bright, randomly shifting areas of color.

Due to time constraints as a school assignment, I wasn't able to locate a proper sound track and time the sequence off of it. Still, I'm fairly happy with the result.

H. P. Lovecraft's original story can be found here.
