context:
MEDS Workshop, or Meeting of Design Students, is an international workshop that takes place each summer in a different country, focusing on a different theme based in the architecture and design world. Two-hundred multi-disciplinary participants live and work together for two weeks whilst also learning with and from each other.
This year it took place in Byblos, Lebanon from the 27th of July to the 11th of August. GawkerStalkers was one of the sixteen projects executed as part of MEDSbyblos DiverCity '18.

goal:
The overall goal of the GawkerStalkers project was to observe the context we found ourselves in, interpret the various inputs all around us, and create content in different mediums that reflected these observations and interpretations.

A family of two hundred international people, living together in tents and working in an abandoned beer factory in Lebanon for two weeks is not an everyday occurrence. The fifteen other projects, the cultural contexts of Lebanon and the people themselves naturally created stories and plenty of opportunities for some gawking and stalking. This is exactly what the GawkerStalkers did for the course of the two weeks.

In order to tangibly frame our observations and interpretations, many different mediums were used, both analogue and digital. Photography, video, illustration, text, print, sewing, prototyping and animation were all used and combined to create 25 zines, 5 videos, over 10,000 still photos and additional exploratory mediums such as interviews, an icon set, a recipe for a great MEDS 'National Night' event - and more.

The GawkerStalkers explored their surroundings, engaged with locals, went on adventures and generated this content by working together in teams, brainstorming, learning from each other, asking for help and advice from the people around them - all with very, very limited access to the internet.

The complete collection of the zines can be found on Behance:
