Global Anesthesia Program - Prioritizing Health WW

For over 20 years, John Kidd, MD has worked as an anesthesiologist for healthcare organizations in the Wisconsin and New York areas. Before his career in medicine, John Kidd, MD attended the University of Wisconsin’s (WIS) School of Medicine.

WIS’ School of Medicine created the Global Anesthesia Program to address the issues affecting the underserved populations in the United States and abroad. The Department of Anesthesiology not only provides students with robust education, but it also has established priorities that include addressing global health.

The program is committed to assisting low- and middle-income countries with education, service, and research. With funding, students and researchers can travel to other parts of the world to engage in short-term service opportunities or education programs.

This program culminated from initiatives established over the years. Coordination among surgical professions, the Global Anesthesia Program has positive outcomes from residents, students, staff, and junior faculty. The program hopes to create long-term opportunities for education and research through partnerships.
