A Week in the Life of Val

I took this photo of my father this past Parent's Weekend. I love it because it shows his goofy side and because he is the central focus of the image even with a populated background.

I took this picture of my grandpa previously but used it in this project because it is my favorite photo I've ever taken with my iPhone. The filter helps soften the lighting and my grandfathers face.

I took this picture of my friend Bridget while eating lunch. I found it particularly striking because of her silence. I found balance in this shot by having a near empty left half of the photo to contrast the heaviness of the subject on the right.
I caught this photo on a whim, unedited, while walking behind the practice fields during a rugby game.
I hosted a live acoustic session on my radio show this week and took this of the artist Jack Garno. I loved this photo because the image is cropped around him focusing the viewer to conceptualize Garno's musical world.
I love this photo because it's a weekly ritual with my friends and I. Using a "transform" filter on my iPhone, I captured an intimate movement between two women trying to look their best for a night out on the time.
I took this image of my friend in the gym. I chose this blurred edges filter because it centered the focus of the picture on her flexed muscles.
This photo shows a group of students lounging outside a dorm with an inflatable swimming pool. I like how even with multiple subjects the image is balanced overall because of large "white spaces" in between the groups of people and above them with the sky.
I love this image because it shows the subject in his most natural state. Using a "noir" filter, I captured this subject mid-conversation in a relaxed setting, the back porch of his home smoking a cigarette.
I like this photo because of the balance the two injured men create while walking towards each other. They are perfectly symmetrical on the pathway.
