TAROTS:
Major Arcana
Invented as a card game during during the XV century in northern Italy, the Tarots Deck Is the most famous Divination system of the world. I don't know if really can predict the future or not, but every card contain a particle of human expectation.
this deck talks about desires, hopes and fears using powerful and universal symbols. Archetypes that matters in every culture of this planet.
If we consider this deck as a book, is the story of a fool that goes on a jurney, we don't know what is looking for, where is going, nor where is he from.
We can discover details and events of this trip card after card, and when we finish we can start again with a new, unpredictable story. Every shuffle give us a new result.
This is my interpretation of the Major Arcana deck. I choose to use the classic Iconography that made the deck famous, using different styles for different kind of cards with a particular focus on color symbolism.
The Beginning of the journey
The first part of the deck that we can see is the Cardback, representing a snake that pites his own tail. He is the gatekeeper of the story that waits to be told.
The fool is the only card without a number, he is the protagonist of every journey, he knows nothing, he can learn everything.
The first week
In the first 7 cards of the deck we can see various characters: the Magician, the High Priestess, the Empress, the Emperor, and the Pope. These characters represents various kind of knowledge. The 6th card, the Lovers, is the card of the choice, and the 7th is the victory obtained trough action, the Chariot.
The second week
During the second part of the journey, Our fool meets the entities that govern the world, another series of 7 cards: the Justice, the Time, the Wheel of Fortune and the Force. The 12th card is the Hanged Man, a character that decided to see the world from a new perspective. The 13th card, without a name, is the card of the end and at the same time of the beginning, the death/life cycle. In the card n° 14, we have the victory again, but this time the victory we obtain praticing balance, the Temperance.
The third week
The last 7 cards are the more mysterious and unstable of the deck. the most difficult to understand. We start this section with the Devil, this card is different version of the 6th, a card that represents binding choiches. The Tower is the card of the cataclysm, an event so powerful that change the world. the Star, the Moon and the sun are the cards of astrological elements and the power they have on our world. The Judgement is the overcoming of the humankind over the material world, the birth of the universal androgynous, the new human. the last card, the world, is the 3rd card of victory. the card where all the elements are in the right place, the card where everithing is done.
