Following a discussion amongst the members that they were "not appearing in Google", Cardiff Rotary Club came to me looking to set up their very first website and help get them to appear in Google and gain new members.
Whilst their local competition had all set up separate websites from the main Rotary International directory, the Rotary Club of Cardiff had been hindered by not utilising the web and creating a portal for existing and potential members to view their information about the club, their events, news and meeting information.
Cardiff Rotary Club were keen to make sure their events and meetings we prominent and easy for the visitiors to view and navigate.
As the new website was designed to be responsive and easily viewable on as many devices as possible, a simple mobile menu was created using HTML, CSS & JavaScript.
Using media queries to establish screen width the menu can be hidden using CSS. When the page is loaded or resized to a set width the menu is hidden and a controller button is introduced to open and close the menu. This is done using jQuery animation to provide a smooth sliding open and close.
Club Officers can be added in the back end of WordPress using a custom post type. The administrator can add an image, name and role to each member.
