Made to commission, produce, and present the full spectrum of performing arts, visual arts, and pop culture, The Shed is an institution located at Hudson Yards, New York City.
I was approached to design a typeface to function as one of their main identity-components, applied across the institution's various digital and printed media. The typeface features almost parody-like exaggerated ink traps and semi-seriffed characters to appear monumentally "brutalist" in large sizes and jaggedly imperfect in small sizes. Its condensed proportions match the logotype which is set in a font by Lawrence Weiner whose work largely constitute the conceptual foundation for the visual identity (developed by Other Means).
