Paint the Mountains
At first I was really excited about this project. I had a friend of mine in college that created her own digital painting based on an image. I really enjoyed watching her spend time on it. Unfortunately for me, my friend made it look too easy.
I chose an image I had taken while on vacation in Cooke City, Montana over the summer, and did a normal image stack method to get the best possible landscape image.
For those who don't know, image stacking is pretty easily understood. Take multiple images and stack them on top of one another. It can be used to create panoramas, sharp landscapes, or to add or subtract different objects within an image. I will fully admit that my image stack shows that I did not use one of the best made camera accessories, a tripod. But I've learned my lesson (hopefully...) and feel the image worked out well. I painted in anything I may have needed for the overall image.
Throughout this project, I learned how to utilize the Photoshop brushes. I created one brush from scratch, and even tweaked several other brushes for this project. I also tried my hand at using a Wacom Pen Tablet again. I fell in love with using a pen tablet instead of a mouse, and when I can would prefer it. I also quickly discovered that painting by hand (digitally) may not be my forte. So maybe, one day, this will be a project I will attempt again, and maybe a different tactic as well.
