This was a class project on Environmental Graphics. I chose to do placemaking of a children's park in Coimbatore.

As the age of children allowed in the park was not more than 10 yrs, my focus was to include learning of basic maths in a fun way.

Below are few concept I worked on for the side walls of the park.
a concept for an installation, learning mathematical signs using sand in the park
Finally, I came up with an installation of Snake and Ladder.

Snake and Ladder was chosen as it is a game that has no boundaries of language, region, or even age! This is a game everyone is aware of, also leading to no additional display of instruction regarding 'How to play!'.

This is a 1:11 in proportion model of the installation. The actual size of installation is 21ft x 21ft.

This particular format for the installation is chosen as it breaks through the primitive way of a "board game". This format also makes it more interesting, dynamic, and engaging for play.
