About
The goal was to make a festival-guide-app for the digital art festival in Zurich. The Festival was planned to be May 2020 for the first time. It will be an unique festival, showing loads of different digital art types, hosting loads of events, spread to a variety of different locations in the City of Zürich.
Our Vision was to create a design that is visually and in its functionality very different. Because it is the first festival of this kind and they surely don‘t know the whole content yet we were eager to not only create a screen design but more to developed a tool that can be extended in a modular system so that is very versatile in its core frame.
One of the main goals we had in mind was to design something experimental that is not the usual „best practice“ to explore the boundaries of the screen. We felt that the client is seeking something different otherwise they could have just gone to a well-known Design Studio.
The solution we came up with is an endless foldable tile system that looks like paper that opens up. The inspiration partly stems from an old kids game „Himmel und Hölle“ which used also a very small form-factor like a single square paper that was folded and divided into a whole game.
