Glowing Air - Zauberwald 2018

About
This installation was conceived for the Lenzerheide's Zauberwald, a festival of light. The visionary behind this project was the local energy supplier, EWZ, with a purpose to shed light on the realm of renewable energies, particularly focusing on wind, hydro, and solar power harnessed within Switzerland. The artistic ensemble comprised six interactive installations, each serving as a symbolic microcosm of a power plant. In this creative endeavor, my partner and I undertook the task of crafting the embodiment of wind energy.
Our creation took the form of a delicate relief showcasing the majestic Swiss Alps, meticulously constructed using stacked wooden plates. Gracefully integrated into this tableau was a network of glass rods, arranged in a grid-like pattern. Our choice of interaction involved a small helix, ingeniously designed as an input mechanism. By harnessing the force of a gentle blow, visitors could actively participate in generating energy. The very breath of the user, simulating the power of wind, set in motion a mesmerizing transformation — illuminating the glass rods with an incandescent hue. The luminosity commenced in a fiery red hue, gradually transitioning into a calming blue as the energy reserves waned, effectively conveying the ebb and flow of this renewable resource.
