Wireless Internet Router : Jellyfish 2018
This is a jellyfish-shaped Internet router. I thought about the design concept after getting the request to design an Internet router. Due to the function and role of Internet router, it should be positioned in a place where it can be seen easily. But, the majority of Internet routers are rather focused on its function, and not beautiful in the aspect of design, when compared with the flower pot next to it. The wires at the back of routers are not really organized giving stress visually. But since it is not possible to remove these, I thought it was an opportunity for me to make a design concept and
direction of this weakness. I thought to myself, let me use these wires at the back of the router as a design element. Although it looks like an Internet router, let me make it look like a design object, just like a flower pot next to it. I used jellyfish as a metaphor for the design of this product. My goal was to make jellyfish as minimal as possible. The true minimalism I believe is not the box. Every element has one direction. It was my goal to create a form that is related to those wires at the back of the router. The process of manufacturing a plastic mold and the number of assembly parts that make up this product are no different from those of other ordinary routers. I do not expect the production cost to rise to propose a new design.
