This research studies the society's attention and appreciation towards historical heritage as a facility and utility to enrich knowledge, especially the ones related to single or group of individual's identity. This research also underlies the design process from a photo essay book that is used as the main media in communicating information regarding the historical heritages in Onrust Island of Kepulauan Seribu that is rich with meanings and benefits to public, especially the youths born and grown in Jakarta.
Observation method approaches, interviews, literature studies, surveys, and explorations are expected to support data collection before entering the actual design execution phase. The working steps include literature studies, problem identification, solution investigation, strategy formulation, final execution, evaluation, and publication will underlie the chronology of this media design.
The elaboration of the problem's topic, problem investigation media and target characteristics reviewed from published literatures will be important aspects underlying the design discipline of knowledge. SWOT analysis method will also become a theoretical model that will be implemented on certain design phases. Similar design studies that have became a comparison and reference are expected to support the creative process of the design.
