Portraits of People

There is nothing more valuable than good portraiture. I started this series without the real intention of making a portrait series but I quite like it and I think it would be an excellent project to combine this with the appropriate write up to make for very personal photo essays.

This will perhaps be yet another Work-in-progress and the challenge is to be contempt with this fact.
Christina is likewise one of my students. She is incredibly intelligent and is proud of her nerdy personality. She has about her a caring persona - always bringing us cookies and defending the most teased in the class. When she heard of the events in Kenya, she deeply empathized with me and spoke to me for an extensive period of time. Overall, I can clearly say that she is someone that is quite thorough in her approach to everything and I am quite certain that whatever she embarks on doing, she will certainly do it well as well as make it look easy.
I am ashamed to have lost the card that bore the details of this wonderful man in Jordan. I had a 19 hour stop over and needed to get some fresh air so I ventured out into the old part of the city. Amman can be difficult for non-Arabic speakers and my biggest fear was getting lost and missing my flight.

I shared a wonderful cup of tea with this gentleman and after a horrific experience with Jordan's national carrier, Royal Jordanian, I was re-assured of the warm hospitality of the Arab world.
Rene called me at the location and informed me that he had heard about my project and wanted to be part of it, so just like that , he met all my friends and students and was a delightful part of the project. Coming from the same country and meeting over this particular incident, we managed to form a good friendship early on. As it would happen, I would spend the rest of the evening with fellow Kenyans and Rene would be a big part of it. Extremely likeable is how I would describe him.

I met Jessie in a mob of people that were rather close to one another. It is quite intimidating to be in such a setting as an outsider but over time, I came to know her better and slowly she started to infiltrate my immediate circle of friends. She always wears a pleasant smile and loves to explore new places and cultures.

Bing first got in touch with me as he was interested in a story telling course that I was offering at the time. Over many lessons and interactions, we had become good friends and he had offered to help me for a shoot that I was organizing in the area. He presently studies Electrical Engineering at McGill and what I really like about him is that he thinks the best in everyone and always gives them the benefit of doubt.
