"Soft Analog" is a music band founded in 2019 in Ankara, Turkey. Ömer and İdil started their musical life by playing guitar and piano when they were children. The duo, who were high school friends, had stage experience in various activities by being in school groups. The experience they gained at an early age made a great contribution to the foundation of Soft Analog.
The inspiration of the band comes from the '80s and ‘90s sound, clothing, and style. Soft Analog is especially influenced by the synthesizers of that time, drum machine, disco-funk bass and drum patterns, the old fashion (vintage) clothes, glasses, and color palette. They try to create a new production by combining these with the modern world. This nostalgic atmosphere in their compositions is immediately felt by those who know and are interested in the period.
The name of the band reflects the music the band makes. The word analog comes from the old synths that are part of the band's sound, and they love to use, as well as analog devices such as vinyl and cassettes. The word soft expresses the soft, chill air of the band's sound. The group pays attention to producing concept works when they share their songs and the world they create with their audience.
Soft Analog looks at the city life from an individual perspective and tries to make a social criticism and have a voice in their song lyrics. While writing their lyrics, they prioritize describing the modern world and the people in this circle and talking about the feelings and awareness created by modern life. The songs have more melancholic and critical lyrics in a dynamic and energetic sound. The band likes to create this contrast and make listeners feel it.
While creating the concept and shooting, I wanted to emphasize both the band’s retro style and their approach to the modern city.
