Red-tailed Hawks & Rough-legged Hawks
Here are my best photos of the Red-tailed Hawks and the Rough-legged Hawks.
On December 29, 2014, I was walking a trail at the Ecomuseum Zoo when I saw Coquino. This beautiful Red-tailed Hawk was on the falconer's glove of a young woman who accustomed her to the presence of people.
Here are the two best photos I took of Coquino, in original format and cropped in black & white.
Females are up to 25% larger than males. Male red-tailed hawks may weigh from 690 to 1,300 g (1.52 to 2.87 lb) and females may weigh between 801 and 1,723 g (1.766 and 3.799 lb). Red-tailed hawk - Wikipedia
On June 8, 2018, I photographed these two beautiful Red-tailed Hawks in their habitat on a stilt walkway.
Rough-legged Hawks
Griffon is a beautiful Rough-legged Hawk. When I go to the Ecomuseum Zoo, I always photograph her.
Here are my favorite photos of this wonderful Rough-legged Hawk. In order, the photos were taken in 2015, 2016, 2017 (four shots), 2018 and 2019.
The length of Rough-legged Hawks is 50-56 cm for males and 54-59 cm for females. The wingspan is 1.23 - 1.42 m. The weight of males is 779 - 900 g and for females 1.0 - 1.2 kg Zoo Ecomuseum
Since the birds of prey walkway was closed for the construction of their new habitats, Griffon has been living in a habitat near the zoo reception.
Have a nice day!
