For this project we were asked to create an interesting composition using only letterforms/glyphs to demonstrate aesthetic skill and understanding. We used the typeface Stempel Garmond (serif) and Neue Haas Grotestk (sans-serif). In my composition I looked at ways to bring out characteristics of the letter that makes it unique. For example, look at the a in the serif composition with no detailed backbone, I wanted to bring energy to the inward curves of the bowl and arch. The white space in this composition becomes shaped with interest.
