The Mushroom and the Beast

Why do they have just one eye?

No doubt, there is a story behind it.
One day I did a scavenger hunt school project with my son. The assignment was to make anything from natural materials we can find outside, such as tree barks, sticks, stones, leaves. With a huge pile of natural treasures we ended up doing some human-like creatures. It was a fun task for adults as well, but I could find just one big plastic eye for my forest monster. Inspired by this idea,  I've decided to make some digital illustrations of forest creatures. That is when one-eyed Mushroom called Remy and his fluffy one-eyed friend appeared for the first time.

But that is not the end of the story, it is just the beginning of a new one.

I was thinking about my characters and drawing some details to reveal and explore their personality.

What do they like to do? How do they meet each other? What are they dreaming about? Maybe the Mushroom likes gardening and cooking. And his friend dreams about a cozy tree house in the middle of the woods. Perhaps the fluffy monster is a fan of chocolate and they both love wild strawberries.
