Let me take you on a journey through my home forest Morschenich
I live in North Rhine-Westphalia, 2km away from the Hambach open-cast mine, in Kerpen-Buir, in the vicinity of Cologne City.
Whenever the situation allows it, I´ll head for the woods. It only takes 5 mins to get there. I love to travel, yet life´s responsibilities, such as family and work, make such undertakings a challenge. Good that beautiful things are around you, no matter where you are.
The forest in Morschenich is about 2km from where I live. This is my home forest, so to speak, which I visit as often as I am allowed to. Especially now at Corona times, it allows me to get out of the door without meeting people. I know the forest like the back of my hand. With the change of seasons, I can be sure, that I will always discover something new.
I particularly like the seasons of autumn, winter and spring, when the forest transforms into a colourful landscape, and in winter, when it gets darker and often foggy and wet. Those are the times, when I hardly meet other people in the forest and it gets a sense of something mystical.
In the rain and fog, the forest shows its hidden side with all its flaws and blemishes.
Often you only recognise the little things, when you take a closer look. Then they reveal their hidden beauty in their details.
There are most certainly more beautiful forests than my "home forest". Yet I take what I have on my doorstep and look for the special motifs for myself. - For most people I expect, it will be an ordinary forest for walking, jogging and walking the dog.
