The main inspiration for this poster was Hans Holbein painting of Christ in tomb. The painting appeared in the book and the main character - Prince Lev Nikolayevich Myshkin was kind of a takeoff on Christ. There are also murder and madness - that's why Christ face is made of red ragged lines.
