Cypress Demo Unit

During my co-op job at Cypress Semiconductor I was assigned the task of designing a demo unit to show off a new Cypress system solution.  The goal of the project was to create a small and attractive unit that could be used to demonstrate the technology to potential customers.  I developed the electrical and software components of the demo unit and designed an enclosure to show it off.
Electronics
To create a compelling demo, I wanted to be able to control the Cypress solution from an Android phone.   I used a IOIO board to interface with the Cypress solution since it can connect easily to Android phones over Bluetooth.  I wired the IOIO to the Cypress solution and got them talking to one another using I2C.  I powered the system with a 9V battery and added a switch to turn it on and off.
Software
I created an Android phone app using the Android SDK.  The app communicated with the IOIO board over bluetooth to control the Cypress solution and collect and display data from it.

Enclosure
I designed the enclosure in Solidworks and contracted a local rapid prototyping shop to CNC mill the parts and assemble them.
