The Kızıldere incident took place as a result of the security forces firing at the people in the house with mortars and rocket launchers. At the end of the conflict, Mahir Çayan, Cihan Alptekin, Ömer Ayna, Saffet Alp, Sinan Kazım Özüdoğru, Hüdai Arıkan, Ahmet Atasoy, Ertan Saruhan, Sabahattin Kurt and Nihat Yılmaz were killed. Ertuğrul Kürkçü, who was in the house, was captured injured in a barn. The hostages die in combat. Funerals are taken to Niksar under the auspices of the prosecutor. After the incident, the funeral vehicle of Mahir Çayan is stopped by the soldiers and his body is buried in the cemetery of the orphans.
