Soup
A book about my favorite childhood memories about canned soup, and the disturbing side of this food (like botulism and high sodium) that you don't care about when you're a kid. The paper was handmade to mimic alphabet soup, with three red and orange cotton shirts making up the paper pulp. The green beans, peas, carrot cubes and oregano were cut from lokta paper and added to the soup-base just before sheet forming. The text is hand-set lead type, and the box / tin can is made from a cardboard shipping tube with a bone clasp.
AB3s
An altered 8th grade reader from 1955, hand cut stencil.

End of the Line
An altered copy of Tolstoy's Anna Karenina, with hand cut relief of an approaching train.
Ethel
The very first book I made, a 4 lbs. tribute to broadway star Ethel Merman, made entirely of 4 ply black museum board. When closed, the book forms the sound wave of Ethel singing the words "show business" from one of her most famous songs "There's No Business Like Show Business." Lyrics to the song have been hand-painted with sumi ink.
